Our purpose
Household energy questions are often answered with vague tips or averages that do not match a real home. Electric Cost Lab starts with measurable inputs: watts, runtime, kilowatt-hours, vehicle efficiency, equipment ratings, and price per kWh.
What we publish
The library includes general and device-specific calculators, appliance operating-cost guides, state residential price pages, electric-bill diagnostics, and plain-English explanations of electricity concepts.
Accounts and Google sign-in
An Electric Cost Lab account lets a homeowner securely save a home profile, electricity bills, files, calculations, and plans so the same private workspace is available on any device. Users can register with email and password or choose Google sign-in. When Google sign-in is selected, Electric Cost Lab requests only a stable Google account identifier, verified email address, and basic profile name to create or find the user's Electric Cost Lab account. We do not request access to Google Drive, contacts, utility data, or advertising data.

How we use averages
State residential prices are comparison tools. They are not utility-specific rate plans. We label the data period and source and encourage readers to use the all-in price from their own bill for personal estimates.
How the site is funded
